How Much CBD Pet Tincture Should I Use?

As a starting point, each drop of our medium breed pet CBD tincture oil should work out to about 1mg of active CBD. CBDfx customers report that they typically use 1 drop for every 4 lbs of the animal’s body weight.

With any product you give your pet, consider that your pet’s weight is the first factor to consider in determining how much CBD tincture for dogs to use daily. Our 150 mg CBD oil for dogs is formulated for animals that weigh 20 pounds or less. The handy dropper that comes with each bottle dispenses about 0.5mg of active CBD per drop. Many of our customers using CBD oil for small dogs find that about 1 drop for every 2 pounds of the animal’s body weight is the right starting point.

Your dog can’t give you feedback on how the CBD feels, so you need to pay careful attention yourself. A pet that gets too big of a serving of small dog tincture may be extra drowsy or sluggish. If your dog’s energy level is less than normal, consider reducing the amount until you find the sweet spot for your four-legged pal.

The American Kennel Club, a nonprofit that has been supporting dog owners since 1884, offers this recommendation to people providing their pets with CBD. “It is always advisable, when giving your dog something new, to start out with small amounts and then closely monitor the effects.”

Should I give my dog the small breed or medium breed tincture?

If your dog is close to the weight border between small and medium, start with the 150mg CBD oil, so you can gradually calibrate the right amount, drop by drop. After using CBD tincture for dogs for a few weeks, you may decide to give your dog a higher concentration. If so, choose the formula for medium breeds when you re-order.
